Frequently Asked Questions:

What are magic mushrooms?

The main psychoactive substance that makes mushrooms "Magic" is a compound called Psilocybin. Psilocybin can be found in 4 different strains in the mushroom family (Psilocybe, Panaeolus, Pluteus, and Gymnopilus). Magic mushrooms have been an extensive part of various cultural practices throughout the world for centuries, and have been used by over 30 million people at least once throughout their life. Once consumed, Psilocybin is converted into psilocin in the body, which affects serotonin levels in the brain, leading to altered consciousness, perceptions, and mood, including intense sensory experiences that can cause hallucinations in high dosages. Numerous studies have shown that Psilocybin has therapeutic potential in a number of mental health disorders (including without the addictiveness and overdose risks found in other mind-altering drugs, such as cocaine, methamphetamines and even alcohol.
