History
The history of magic mushrooms dates back to prehistoric times, with evidence of their use in ancient cultures for spiritual and healing purposes. In Central America, psilocybin mushrooms were revered by the Aztecs as "teonanácatl," or "flesh of the gods," and were used in religious ceremonies. The modern Western world was introduced to these mushrooms in the mid-20th century by figures like R. Gordon Wasson, who participated in a psilocybin ceremony in Mexico. Today, psilocybin is being studied for its therapeutic potential in treating mental health disorders.
